Meanwhile...

So, it's been a long time since I have used my blog but I decided to give this whole blogging things a chance.

Over the past year I started my education blocks and am loving every crazy minute of it. I have been able to meet some great teachers, and am looking forward to my high school teaching experiences yet to come. I have also just recently left a job I have had for the past four years. Working in this school helped me to decide to be a teacher and I will miss it but it was time to move on. I have a job interview next week to be substitute at my old high school. Fingers crossed all goes well, I would really love to begin teaching there and getting some high school teaching experiences.

Like I said, I'm new to this whole blogging thing so I this will be it for now. Hopefully this time I can keep updating it.

Stay tuned

Windows Live

Windows Live is similar to Google. Both allow you to create and share documents, however, Windows Live allows you to store and share photos. You are able to share photos with facebook or myspace. The ability to share and create documents is similar to Google documents. You are able to create groups where you can share your documents, make corrections, and messenge co-workers, classmates, or partners when working on a project together. Other programs available on Windows Live are hotmail and messenger where people are able to comment on documents or photos and send emails. You are also able to use Windows Live on other devices and have it secured with a specific computer so that you can change the password to your account if it gets stolen or forgotten.

One aspect about photos with Windows Live is the ability to tag people in the photo a few times, soon the program will be able to identify their face and tag them automatically. You are able to look of photos by typing a persons name and pulling up every picture they are in. Skydrive is where all you photos and downloads, such as documents, are stored. This type of technology reminds me of flash drives, it stores any documents you may need without having to keep track of the flashdrive and carry it around with you. You are able to go to the Windows Live website, sign in, and access your files rather than search for a small flash drive to access the information or documents you may need.

I was able to sign up for Windows Live for free and added a small photo album where I was able to tag my friends in the photos and choose the amount of privacy on my album. The choice ranges from everyone (public) to just me being able to view my documents and photos. The technology is very easy to use and understand; the website also gives an explanation of how to use the different aspect of the website and the function of the device. I suggest knowing how to use Windows documents before signing up for the program. This website is also great if people do not have Windows Documents on their computer because they are able to access word, excel, powerpoint, and notebook documents. This documents are usefull in any school or business setting and would highly recommend this site for college students so that they are able to have easy access to their documents and reports and it allows students to have one less device to keep track of because their account can be accessed from any computer.

Livescribe Pulse Pen

The smart pen is a device that records anything that you hear, write, or draw. You are able to mark important information and recall the audio by clicking on your notes. With the smartpen you are also able to save your audio and notes to livescribe desktop allowing you to recall, search, organize, and export audio to different devices. The smart pen also allows you to create pencasts that allows you to send your notes and audio to others via email, facebook, blog, website, or the Livescribe Community. Another great use for the smart pen is that you can download apps that will help you study, learn a new language, productivity tools, or even games.

The smart pen is great for college students because it allows you to not only be able to record your classes, but will recall the lecture by clicking on a specific portion of your notes. The pen also allows you to just record your written notes by writting on the Livescribe dot paper and when you are ready to record audio just click the record button at the bottom of your notebook. Although the smart pen's built in microphone was created for conference rooms and smaller spaces, by using the 3-D recoding headset you are able to record in larger rooms such as lecture halls. The 3-D recoding headset has dual microphones in each earbud that recreates the spatial audio of the room. Another great aspect of the smart pen is that you are able to record audio without using dot paper by simply holding down the power button and are later able to recall the audio and take notes on the dot paper where the smart pen will automatically recall the audio in your notes.

For people who are interested in the smart pen, I suggest looking at the website so that you are able to get a full understanding of how the pen works. The website gives you information on how to use the pen, the different ways to save your notes and publish them on the web, and the different types of smart pens available. I was unable to use the pen to get a first hand experience of the different uses, but advise people who are interested to look at the website and make sure it is something they are interested in because the pen is an investment.

My Bloging Experience

This is my first blog post. I have never seen blogging except in a movie once and know that blogging allows people to share their thoughts and experiences via the web. Creating my own blog website has been very interesting; it is an extension of my personality. For other future bloggers out there, I suggest looking at other blogs to get an idea of how to set up your blog site and will give you an idea of what type of posts you might create.
